The iGEM 2016 Competition is 3 months away and teams are making progress! Denmark is being represented by 3 university teams this year from KU, DTU and SDU. Biologigaragen has been in contact with some members from the teams in Copenhagen and they’re cooking up some really interesting projects.
As part of their activities, Team CosmoCrops from KU is hosting a workshop in “Human Practices” and Biologigaragen has been invited to attend.
“Human Practices is the study of how your work affects the world, and how the world affects your work.
— Peter Carr, Director of Judging, iGEM
Here’s the invitation from CosmoCrops team member, Thue Nikolajsen:
“We would like to extend an invitation to our Human Practices Workshop from the 19th to the 21st of August in Copenhagen.
The point of the workshop is to put some focus on the human practices criteria, with talks on philosophy, ethics, public speaking/outreach as well as IPR/commercialisation. This will be followed by some cooperative discussions and sparring on how to make our projects much bigger than the science itself – and of course, we’ll also get time to simply hang out and be social.
We start off at 13:00, on the address Thorvaldsensvej 40, 1871 Frederiksberg C (Frederiksberg Campus of UCPH). A more detailed timetable will follow as we get closer.”
We will stay in contact with Team CosmoCrops and put out more information as we hear it. If you’re interested in the workshop, drop us a message on our facebook page or email and we will let the organizers know.
